A chapter of my life I would title “The Hard Years” would be the season when I went through divorce, heartbreak, loss, and the pain of dealing with mean people. It was a time when life felt heavy, and I had to learn how to keep going even when my heart was tired.
Divorce and heartaches taught me that not everyone who comes into your life is meant to stay, and sometimes losing someone is also part of finding yourself again. The death of family members taught me how fragile life is and how important it is to love people while they are still here. Dealing with mean people taught me to stay strong, protect my peace, and not let other people’s cruelty change my heart.
What got me through those hard years was my faith, my inner strength, and the belief that pain does not last forever. I learned to pray more, stay quiet when I needed peace, and keep moving even when I did not feel strong. I also learned that healing takes time, but every tear, every disappointment, and every painful lesson helped me become wiser, stronger, and more careful with my heart.
Those years were hard, but they did not destroy me. They shaped me. They taught me patience, forgiveness, self-respect, and resilience. I survived the hard years, and because of that, I know I can face whatever comes next with courage and grace. Today, I am married again and happy, and I carry those lessons with me as I move forward with hope and a full heart. I am proud of myself because I did not let pain make me bitter.
